SeafarerHelp
Seafarer Help is the flagship project of ISWAN (International Seafarers' Welfare Assistance Network). What was originally a one page site in 9 languages is now a dynamic one stop contact destination for seafarers who need assistance. It also incorporates the Seafarers Directory - an international database of ports where Seafarers can look up ports they will visit and find out which services they can make use of.
Once the decision is made to go multi-lingual every bit of content on the site has to be multiplied in content production time by the number of languages used. It also adds interesting design constraints when words and phrases in different languages can be twice the length.
Craftcms provides exceptionally clear content editing to allow multi lingual editing as simple as clicking a button. Adding any language is simple enough - you just need to be able to read and write in eight different languages
Seafarer Centre Directory
This directory is completely managed inside of SeafarerHelp's Craftcms installation and automatically geocodes new centres that are added so they can appear on the map. More importantly, Craftcms lets us build an API of all the directory content which is made available to ISWAN's partners and included in mobile apps.
The directory above is managed in Craftcms and its data api powers the ITF Seafarers Trust Shoreleave app
